The Bones on Beds choice on offer can be summarised into the following categories
- Orthopaedic – normally refers to firmer mattresses, constructed using 12.5 gauge firm open coil spring covered both sides with firm layers of deep upholstery. To achieve a firmer feel the mattresses are usually hand tufted. To offer a softer feel the mattresses are available quilted.
- Medium support – uses a softer open coil spring and covered with softer fillings than the orthopaedic mattresses.
- Pocketsprung - Individual springs within the mattress designed to adapt to the shape of the body, with the number of springs ranging from 600 to 2000 within a 5’0 mattress. These springs are nestled in their own individual bags allowing them to absord the shape of the body whilst offering full body support. These springs are covered in a wide range of fabrics including wool, silk, cotton and cashmere leaving the body with a luxurious feel.
- Memory Visco-Elastic or Memory Foam – developed by NASA, these mattresses are comprised of foam which adapts to the body temperature and moulds perfectly to the shape of the body. The foam effectively redistributes body-weight, reducing pressure points, improving circulation and minimizing spinal pressure. This material never breaks down and always returns to its original shape, hence performing perfectly and consistently for years.
There are two different types of memory foam mattresses available, one solid foam and one with springs under the foam.
1) The solid foam mattress has a generous layer of visco memory foam bonded to a deep reflex foam base.
2) The sprung memory mattress is constructed of a generous layer of visco foam memory either on a double-stacked spring system, or on single open coil springs, or individual pocket springs.
- Latex - Both hard and soft rubber constituted latex mattresses available.
- Roll-up – these are compressed and vacuum-packed for easy handling, meaning the customer can take them away themselves once they have bought them. Available in memory, in firm, medium and soft foam, and in latex.
- Non-allergenic - Suitable for asthmatics and allergy sufferers. Available in single, double and different degrees of firmness.
